NZCC

New Zealand Cavy Club is one of the Independent Cavy Clubs in New Zealand. It is for people who breed and show cavies (guinea pigs).

The Club holds shows under the auspices and rules of the New Zealand Cavy Judges Association (NZCJA). The Club puts on five shows a year. These shows are combined with the Taranaki Cavy Group (TGC).

If you are a member you can show your pedigree cavies or your pet guinea pigs at a New Zealand Cavy Club show. Visit our "Coming Up" section for details of upcoming shows.

Our committee organises all club activities and you can contact us if you have problems related to your cavy.

There are also helpful articles on the care of cavies in our "Cavy Care" section.

The New Zealand Cavy Club was formed in 1976 after a meeting in Lower Hutt, New Zealand which was attended by 70 people. At first it was called the National Cavy Club but later after Incorporation the name of New Zealand Cavy Club Incorporated was taken. Recently the club has given up the incorporation and reverted to the original name of New Zealand Cavy Club.
